Did you know that families are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population?
There are 1217 homeless family members in Tulsa County according to government standard definitions.
There are over 3700 children living in homelessness based on local school statistics (which take into account families who are couch surfing, doubling up, or living in their cars).
There are only 200 beds available for family members in local shelters in Tulsa County.
Half of the guests at Family Promise Center of Tulsa County are children and most of them are 5 years old or younger.
gives unhoused families the dignity and security of staying together while they work, go to school, and are in transition to housing solutions.
Our next host week with Family Promise is coming soon.
We will welcome guests to Harvard Avenue May 5 – 12.
There are nearly 100 VOLUNTEERS needed per host week. You can select a volunteer role (or more than one!)(or check on progress and add yourself to other roles) by going to the Harvard Ave/Family Promise SignUpGenius.
There is always great need for overnight hosts, volunteers that can stay and sleep at the church facility during the nights that we are hosting (8:30 pm-7:00 am, cot provided, bring your own bedding. Each volunteer will have their own room). We need one male and one female volunteer for each night. Please consider this role if you have availability to do so.
**If you have not yet served with us during a host week, but want to help, you can be part of volunteer training on Sunday May 5 (12:15pm @ First UMC), and serve the same week! Contact Kevin Howe for more information.
We remain grateful for the ways that you will add your gifts of time, energy, and presence to this effort. Here’s to making a big difference for our family guests!
