A choral worship cantata (by Hal H. Hopson), this series of readings and music centers on the last hours of Christ's life, as he prepared for and suffered death on the cross.
There are moments of quiet between readings and songs. After several of the readings you may hear, within that silence, a small sound of glass contact. A series of 14 candles are extinguished, one at a time, as the worship service moves through the darkening hours of Christ's life, and the final candle is extinguished as he is crucified and the temple curtain is torn in two.
