On a mission to inspire one another to live and love like Jesus!

At Harvard Avenue Christian Church, we want to be a place where living and loving like Jesus is not only modeled, but actively pursued.

Welcome to Harvard Avenue Christian Church, where Jesus inspires us to live and love like Him.

So what does it mean for us to inspire others to live and love like Jesus?

It means being a place where everyone is welcome, community flourishes,  questions are encouraged, wisdom is found,  and compassion gets the final word.

Our Mission

Inspiring one another to live and love like Jesus is at the heart of what we’re about.

Our Vision

We are a multigenerational church that is focused on reaching the next generation.

By pursuing the way of Christ, through a set of shared values and practices, we grow more fully into our vision.

Our Values

Radical Hospitality

We love with a spirit of inclusion. We welcome anyone and everyone with open hearts—no exceptions– just like Jesus.

Active Transformation

We acknowledge that we’re all on a journey pursuing spiritual growth and transformation in our personal lives, our community, and our world through our relationship with Jesus.

Compassionate Generosity

We respond with generosity of spirit by serving others and sharing our resources, both close to home and around the world because God has been generous with us.

Authentic Community

We come together as one community, knowing that following Jesus means seriously investing in our community by prioritizing time together in worship, fellowship, classes, and Life Groups.

Theological Humility

We value freedom of belief, fearless curiosity, and diversity of thought and opinion. We don’t pretend to have all the answers or shy away from big questions about who God is and what God is calling us to do.

Our Roots

Our founders began a movement which seeks to include rather than exclude. We are still committed to their hopes and desires for the church: “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.

Harvard Avenue Christian Church is part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and shares in ministry and mission not only with the northeast area of the Oklahoma Region, but with Disciples throughout the United States and around the world. Our name, Christian Church, shows that we have a common bond with Christians the world over. Disciples of Christ identifies us as a distinctive body within the whole of Christianity.

As ‘the Disciples’, our roots reach back to the early 1800’s when Scottish Presbyterians on the frontier of Pennsylvania and Kentucky, troubled by the feuding within churches at that time, yearned for all Christians to be united in a simple recommitment to a New Testament faith that emphasizes:

Open Communion

The Lord’s Supper, or Communion, is celebrated in weekly worship. It is open to all who believe in Jesus Christ.

Freedom of Belief

Disciples are called together around one essential of faith: belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  Persons are free to follow their consciences guided by the Bible, the Holy Spirit, study and prayer, and are expected to extend that freedom to others.

Baptism by Immersion

In baptism, the old self-centered life is set aside, and a new life of trust in God begins.  Although Disciples practice baptism by immersion, other baptism traditions are honored.

Unity of the Church

All Christians are called to be one in Christ and to seek opportunities for common witness and service.

The Ministry of All Believers

Both ministers and lay persons lead in worship, service, and spiritual growth. We have no formal creed, but we profess a common faith that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and we claim him as Lord and Savior. What that means, how it plays out in the life of each individual, and how it shapes the community, is worked out daily as we strive together to live faithfully into the ways of Jesus.

People of many different backgrounds find a spiritual home here, because we value each person and celebrate the depth and breadth of diversity in which God has created us.
